Don Pasquale [collection] : dramma buffo in 3 atti / da Ruffini ; posto in musica da Gaetano Donizetti. 1840-1889.

Arranged in four groups: I. Vocal scores (6). II. Orchestra parts (31). III. Librettos (3). IV. Promptbooks (3). The vocal scores are in three editions: A French edition, published by the Bureau de la France musicale (Paris, pl. no. F.M. 260, F.M. 304.2--F.M. 304.14, 184-? ), an Italian edition (Ricordi) and an English and Italian edition published by Boosey (London). The orchestra parts are holograph and contain annotations. The three librettos are in two editions. One is English ("The songs, duetts, trios, &c. in Don Pasquale"), published in New York, 1846, at the Herald Book and Job Office; it is signed A. Seguin, and "M. Seguin 154 West 21st St." appears on the cover; the title page contains the words "Rendered into English by T.H. Reynoldson; first performed at the Park Theatre, New York, 9th March, 1846." The other two librettos are in Italian and English, published by O. Ditson, Boston (c1888) and contain "the music of all the principal airs." They form part of "Oliver Ditson Company's Standard edition of opera librettos." The promptbooks are in English. The first is based on the libretto published by Alfred Mudge (Boston, 1888) which contains interleaved pages of stage directions. The title page contains the words "New English version by Oscar Weil." The second, published in New York by Wardle Corbyn (1857) bears the signature of Anne Seguin. It is in English and is part of "Corbyn's American edition of English opera books." The third is manuscript, and lists the cast and contains the words "First performed at the Academy of Music, San Francisco, Saturday evening, Sept. 24th, 1864 for the benefit of Miss Caroline Richings."
